Among the countless school memories I have, one of the most vivid one is the day we entered the premises of The British Co-Ed High School as the first batch of students. As we walked through the school corridors, we were all not just elated, but also extremely proud and blessed to be the foundation batch.
On the school’s 15th anniversary, I want to thank all my teachers and batch mates for all the learning and fun that I had during school days. British Co-Ed has undoubtedly played a crucial role in shaping my personality and career. Wishing the school continued success in the years to come. Cheers!

I had the privilege of studying at The British Co-Ed High School from 2007 to 2012. And, it is without a doubt I believe that those five years truly shaped who I am today.
Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, I have started a career in broadcast journalism & communications.
My journey from Grade 8 in British to doing a Masters of Journalism at The University of Melbourne has come a long way. Every time, I am asked to speak publically or write for a website, I am transported back to Shakespeare classes taken by Rosa ma’am and the long list of vocabulary words we had to finesse.
I am a recipient of Antenna Awards for TV, Ossie Awards for Podcast along with working on launching a new documentary show next year.
Many congratulations to the school for completing 15 years of excellence. It shall always be the place I have the happiest memories.

“I joined The British Co-Ed School in 1997 and spent 13 years there, the most memorable years of my life. The teachers at this school were amazing, and the education system here ensured that students focus on understanding concepts, rather than memorizing irrelevant details. The school helped me develop important analytical skills from a very early age, thanks to the carefully thought out Math and Science curricula. The Computer Applications course in particular was my favourite, and it helped me harness my computer programming skills, which eventually became my career. Being a part of some extra curricular activities like being in the school band, going on field trips, and participating in science exhibitions helped a lot in my personal growth. Ultimately, this school made me a lifelong learner, and I’m really grateful for it!”

Yuvika Dandiwal
It was exactly 15 months ago that I visited the school for the last time before leaving for my flight to Maple-syrup land aka Canada. As I dashed out the exit door with some large “Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut” bars (courtesy to our beloved Rosa ma’am), my heart was numb, which was not an unusual occurrence at the time, and so was my brain (now this was highly unusual; pardon my immodesty). I wish I could say I glanced at the school building with my eyes feasting on its grandeur one last time. But I neither had the emotional strength nor the gallantry to rebel against a possible Indian superstitious custom lest I miss my flight. So, I reflected on my experiences once again, psychologically relished every last bit of those memories, and off I disappeared into the mist.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Yuvika Dandiwal, a graduate of Class of 2018, valedictorian and School Head Girl (2017-18). Credits to partial assimilation into an individualistic culture, I have grown accustomed to some humble bragging.
It might seem like I have fallen off the face of the earth, so, here are some updates about what I have been up to these past few months:
I am enrolled in the Bachelor’s of Arts program at McGill University with a major concentration in Psychology and a minor in Educational and Counselling Psychology. I was awarded the Hugh Brock Scholarship upon admission, which has allowed me to expand my academic pursuits on top of some unavoidable pressure to maintain a certain GPA. Serving as a volunteer at the Douglas Mental Health Institute here in Montreal, I am an unofficial ambassador of mental health and assist in reintegration of clients into the community. I would set the ball rolling for 2020, by starting work as an ABA Therapist, a tutor intern for students with learning disabilities, and as a Research Assistant at a lab devoted to studying eating patterns.
On rare occasions, when homesickness seeps in, I call my parents and channel that feeling into working harder, and endeavouring*. There seems to be a cure for homesickness, there doesn’t seem to be any for “schoolsickness.”
Corny sentimentality aside, I am highly grateful for the eight wonderful years I spent here. My heartfelt gratitude to Executive staff, teaching staff, support staff, friends, juniors, the basketball court, soccer field, the building, and to the one reading this. See you next year. Until then, “Endeavour,” my friend.

I attended The British Co-Ed High School from Nursery until 10th grade. BCEHS’s strong, consistent curriculum and dedicated faculty contributed as a bedrock foundation that prepared me for the challenges of higher education and now, my career. The active participation in sports and co-curricular programs helped me develop a drive, purpose, and leadership skills that played a significant role in shaping me as a lawyer today. The phenomenal teacher-student ratio ensured a more personal learning experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere.
While pursuing my Master’s abroad and meeting intellectuals, I credit a large portion of my success to the firm edifice that the school helped me develop. Throughout my time in college, I often felt more prepared than some of my classmates because of the liberal arts approach to education and the emphasis on college readiness early on in our academic career. As an adult, I continue to be blessed by friendships that began at The British Co-Ed High School because of the close-knit approach instilled in the students. I hereby, extend my heartfelt gratitude to my alma mater that attributed to my success.

BCEHS, I fall short of words when I have to speak about the school and its contribution in shaping me as a person. I attended the school from 7th standard till 10th. After joining the National Defence Academy, I had to go through tough military and flying training and I would really thank the dedicated and loving faculty which contributed in preparing me for such tough situations. Further, my active participation in co-curricular activities helped me develop presenting and leadership skills that made me an Air Force officer today.
WHILE UNDERTAKING MILITARY AND FLYING TRAINING AND EVEN TODAY WHILE UNDERTAKING MOST COMPLEX MISSIONS, I cannot stop myself to credit a large portion of my success to this prestigious school. Throughout my time in NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY I often felt more prepared than some of my classmates because of the liberal arts approach to education and the emphasis on OFFICER LIKE QUALITIES early on in our academic career. As an adult, I continue to be blessed by friendships that began at the British Co-Ed High School because of the close-knit approach instilled in the students. I hereby, extend my heartfelt gratitude to my alma mater that attributed to my success.

Being a little reserved in nature, I never thought that I would be able to stand out in this extrovert society. A girl who used to shy away from socializing would enter her college in Delhi for graduation with confidence and a smile on her face. I owe it all to this wonderful school.
The school helped me realize my potential and shaped me into a self-confident girl. Constant guidance and motivation by the teachers encouraged me to grab opportunities and learn by doing. This groomed me into such a responsible, hardworking and all rounder individual that I was entrusted with the responsibilities of the school Head Girl. This opportunity helped me acquire leadership, management and socializing skills along with noticeable academic achievements.
Heartfelt congratulations to this dynamic school for completing fifteen years. I sincerely wish that my school continues to climb the high growth trajectory.

Rajvir Singh Batra
My name is Rajvir Batra, and I am an alumnus of The British Co-Ed High School – I served as the school Head Boy from 2017 to 2018. During my time at BCEHS, I was involved in debate, Model United Nations conferences, and writing competition. Currently, I am an undergraduate student at Harvard University in Cambridge, United States majoring in Applied Mathematics and Economics with a minor in History/Government. On-campus, I am a researcher at the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School, the Chief Financial Officer and Director of India & Singapore Conferences at the Harvard Global Education Movement and the Director of Operations for the India Business Summit.
As the school celebrates its 15th anniversary, I want to express my gratitude to my teachers, friends, and the institution itself for impacting my life in an overwhelmingly positive way. From the value of discipline to the importance of excellent communication skills, I have learnt it all in the corridors of my school. However, above everything else, BCEHS has defined my moral compass and the values that I hold dear today – ambition, passion, and equity. I am sure I speak on behalf of all other students, past and present, when I say that BCEHS is an institution par excellence and is an asset for our community. In an age where intolerance is on the rise and the very concept of reality is under attack, we need more institutions like the British Co-Ed High School that strive to promote intellectualism and a sense of moral duty.

I was a part of the first graduating batch of The British Co-Ed High School in 2007. As civil engineers, we are always taught that a strong and stable foundation is the first step towards erecting a tall skyscraper. Everyone at this school is working tirelessly to assist you in laying that foundation so you can follow your passion in life. Be kind, stay curious, work hard, and don’t be afraid to fail; nobody pays as much attention to your failures as you. And most importantly, don’t forget to have fun along the way.
